Cool Stuff I Saw: July 2021
Hey everybody (i.e. myself). A LOT of stuff happened this month. Let's jump right into it.
Life
- I'm back to looking for polaroid printers. I looked up a few review articles. (Link 1) (Link 2)
- I was looking for cheaper display cases because all of the Rolife display cases are $40 regardless of size which doesn't seem right to me. My dad linked me to a few since he knew I was looking for them but they're all rather expensive. (Link 1) (Link 2)
- I took a professional development course on estate planning, which is new to me. Most of the examples used in the course assumed that a person was married and had kids, so I was curious about how an inheritance is split when there are no relatives. It seems that in my province, the authorities will try to seek out relatives, no matter how distant. (Link)
- The "A Bra that Fits" calculator. Based on this calculator I should be wearing a cup size up from what I am used to wearing but that doesn't sound right ^^;; I'm sure it's right, I just wouldn't be used to it probably. (Link)
Sports
The Olympics have begun!
- I wanted to rewatched Cheung Ka-long's fencing match where he won gold, but I had no idea how to watch fencing and had to read this guide super quick. (Link)

Chinese Culture
- Duanmu is a Chinese compound surname I hadn't heard of and was surprised to find that it is still in use. (Link)
- Somebody wrote a thread on written Cantonese. Basically, spoken Cantonese can be expressed in both standard written Chinese and written Cantonese. Written Cantonese is a very informal way of writing things, that has not been formalized nor codified, but if you can speak Cantonese and read in standard Chinese, you can probably read written Cantonese.
