Dropped: Crime Scene Season 1 (크라임씬) (2014)
I came to know about this show because I had watched the Chinese spinoff, Who’s the Murderer. I’ve decided to drop this show after 6 episodes. It’s fine, but I think it’s not a show I can watch casually.
Format
The format is similar to what I’d seen in Who’s the Murderer. In the first episode, the players share alibis, search the crime scene, share their findings, and vote on their initial suspect. The second episode involves more searching the crime scene, and a number of interrogations.
Production
The production was average in terms of the actual crime scene. The crime scene is set up in a large open space, outlining various settings related to the players. However, I found the lighting to be a little dark at times which kind of gave the show an overall gloomy feeling which isn’t my favourite.
The show did prepare some more evidence externally though, such as video evidence with actual actors.
Episodes
I think the mysteries I’ve seen so far are alright. All of the characters were sufficiently deep, as is required for the game so that all players are relevant to the story. However, I’ve gotten far enough in Who’s the Murderer that I’ve gotten to the really wacky and convoluted mysteries so these more down to earth crimes aren’t enough to excite me lol.
One reason why I am dropping this show is because it is intensive, and is not a show I can put on in the background as I do not understand Korean. The issue is not in the quality of cases, as I think they are fine, but simply that I can’t watch this in a relaxed manner.
Overall
It’s a fine show, but I think I can’t continue watching because it’s not something I can relax to.
