You know…this movie was surprisingly compelling. Unfortunately this era of Chinese martial arts movies hasn’t been very promising to me. However, this movie surprised me by having action direction and filming that was more exciting, as well as more interesting acting and character relationships.
This was a comedy drama about a German boy learning to handle the changes that came during World War II. It was fine. I understand why it was popular and why it was nominated for many awards. But it didn’t move me that much. That’s probably just a me problem though.
I’d say this was a short experimental novel. I feel like the purpose of the novel was to experiment with writing a story in this way. This novel was more of an experience rather than a story, and it definitely is not for everyone because of its extremely graphic sexual content.
This movie wasn’t that interesting. It was a pretty straightforward good guys vs. bad guys story with little nuance and lots of tropes. The characters weren’t compelling. There are good DC animated movies, this is not one of the better ones.
This movie was definitely about feeling. You just have to watch and feel and that’s the story. Not for everyone, but I can understand that it was creative.
This was a decent show. It made some odd choices as an overarching story and the romance didn’t appeal to me that much. However, I did enjoy the lore and the ghost stories, and I did find myself tearing up at the end. I would recommend this as a kdrama that has a bit of everything.
An uplifting tale of heroism and teamwork. What a coincidence that the last movie I watched was also about the Gwangju Uprising. This movie had a different take, covering the events as they happened, but it was just as deep. This was a solid drama and action movie.
This was the sequel to Sparrow, with some of the same actors returning, namely Zhang Ruoyun and Kan Qingzi. I found this drama to be less compelling than Sparrow. I think Sparrow had more compelling acting, while the characters in Insects Awaken didn’t really give room to the actors to be their own characters. It was okay, not disastrous, but it felt kind of generic.
This was an interesting story, I understand why it would be well-received. There’s drama, there’s politics. Unfortunately as always is the case with older books, I felt that I didn’t absorb the story in full and I know tons of references went over my head. However, I did still feel that the story had substance. I’d recommend this book to those who want a bit of drama.
This was a really interesting documentary on Roman life. It wasn't comprehensive because there are only three episodes, but I really appreciated that it went into the daily lives of Romans as opposed to the great and famous that may be more recognizable.
A revenge movie based on historical events in South Korea, in which the government killed innocent civilians. The movie itself was interesting and tense. However, I do think I would appreciate the movie if I understood the historical context behind it more. Still work a watch.
This was a nice movie, it was touching but also funny at times. I thought the characters had great chemistry with one another and it communicated a complicated yet subtle message through exploring its characters. I liked it.
